Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (2004)
Set during Virtuous Mission at 1964, when Naked Snake attempts to rescue a scientist Sokolov until the events of which his mentor The Boss defects to Soviet Union, leading to the assassination of her and his reward of the title "Big Boss" at the climax of Operation Snake Eater at the same year.

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (2006, half-canon)
1970, six years after Operation Snake Eater, Snake was ended up at San Hieronymo Peninsula, learning that his former unit FOX goes onto rebellion led by Gene to takeover the said peninsula in which Snake must put an end of his plan by forming his own army, leading the creation of FOXHOUND in the end.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (2010)
2 years passed, Big Boss and Miller forms MSF (Militaires Sans Frontieres) sometimes after Big Boss and Zero broke apart as a result of the Les Enfants Terribles project. Another 2 years, 1974, Big Boss receives a job offer from Paz and Galvez to break free Costa Rica from the rogue CIA unit Peace Sentinels, while re-experiencing his past with his old mentor.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (2014) and The Phantom Pain (2015)
Learning of Paz's survival and capture by the mysterious unit XOF led by Skull Face, Big Boss goes to Camp Omega to rescue Paz, and Chico who failed to save the latter safely. This concludes in the destruction of Mother Base (MSF's base of operations) by XOF, posing as the nuclear inspection team.
Nine years after the fall of Mother Base, Big Boss became the most wanted man in the world. Awaken at the hospital after almost a decade from his coma and escape with the help of Ocelot, "he" and Miller seeking revenge against XOF and it's commander Skull Face through MSF's successor, Diamond Dogs as a way to deal with their phantom pain.

Metal Gear (1987)
1995, eleven years after Skull Face's death, Big Boss the commander of FOXHOUND send the rookie Solid Snake, one of Big Boss's clones to sneak into Outer Heaven led by "Big Boss" himself, to destroy the Metal Gear, which will used through its nuke to challenge The Patriots in a way of terrorism.

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (1990)
Four years after the fall of Outer Heaven and Big Boss's "death", Snake deployed by FOXHOUND (which Colonel Roy Campbell was in charge at Zanzibar Land to rescue Kio Marv, a Czech scientist held captive by forces of Zanzibar Land sent by the supposedly dead Big Boss, and also to settle the score with his past.

Metal Gear Solid (1998)
After Snake and Campbell retired from FOXHOUND, the latter unit went rebel on 2005, thanks to Liquid Snake in charge of it, forcing Snake and Campbell to return to stop its revolution, stemming from a base on Shadow Moses Island, while fate brought the twin Snakes together to face each other at the conclusion.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (2001)
Snake, now working for Philanthropy with Otacon discovers the existence of the new Metal Gear in the tanker at Manhattan created on response against Metal Gear variants spreading all over the world through REX's data leaked by Ocelot two years ago.
However this ends in tragedy with the tanker brought down by RAY with Snake presumed dead its oil leak leads to the creation of Big Shell two years later to clean it, which later taken over by the terrorist group Sons of Liberty led by Solidus Snake. Anticipating this, FOXHOUND sent Raiden to eliminate them.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots (2008)
Liquid, "resurrected" through the body of Ocelot begins his insurrection in 2014 at the time PMCs exists with The System, making him enough of a threat for The Patriots (the mastermind behind the series). Philanthropy, and the now rapidly aging Solid Snake makes their way to kill him at the same time putting The Patriots out of commission.

Just missing Revengeance (I consider it Canon, like I consider PO canon. Hell, even Kojima paid some tributes on GZ and PP. And every time Raiden appears now it's the Revengeance gear). Other than that, IT'S MARVELOUS! You just earned a watch ^^
